Dr. Farid Kazem: 'The promising film talent'

Dr. Farid Kazem has run the high-end plastic surgery clinic Kazem Aesthetica in Schiphol-Rijk since 2002, but beyond his passion for aesthetic medicine and entrepreneurship, he pursues other interests. Fine dining in New York restaurants, listening to Ludovico Einaudi's piano compositions with a good glass of wine. Where does this entrepreneur find his inspiration? A glimpse into Farid's world.

Dr. Farid Kazem has been running the high-end plastic surgery clinic Kazem Aesthetica in Schiphol-Rijk since 2002, but in addition to his enormous passion for the aesthetic profession and entrepreneurship, he also has other (leisure) time activities. From eating out and enjoying dinner in fine restaurants in New York to listening to Ludovico Einaudi's passionate piano pieces with a delicious glass of wine. What profession would you pursue if you were not a plastic surgeon and why?

“If I wasn't in this profession I would be a film director in Hollywood. When I was sixteen years old I wrote my own sci-fi story, which I turned into a script. My Dutch teacher in high school liked this story so much that he suggested showing the story on the anniversary. For this anniversary I received the necessary materials to make the production and ultimately I made a video film of about 2000 minutes that was played on the Video XNUMX. This was the first video system from Philips. I was very proud! Following this project, I received a request from the municipality of Nijmegen, where I lived at the time, to make a film for the International Film Festival. I made a slapstick and then received a mention in De Gelderlander that I was “the promising film talent”. I felt like I could no longer stop and told my father that I was no longer going to study medicine, but to become a film director in Hollywood. My father deliberately did not go against this idea, but did advise me to study medicine first, so that I at least had a 'good' foundation. There were so many talented film directors and only a select group broke through. After my studies, I continued in the field in which I still work today.”

What is your number 1 business tip?

“Keep in touch with your existing customer. The largest turnover comes from existing customers. Cherish this. Both through personal contact and social media, newsletters and events. I think this and a good team key is for a successful business.”

Who was your mentor during your career and where do you get your inspiration from?

“I always get inspiration from conferences like the ones we have in Monaco. Here I spar with colleagues and exchange ideas. In the past, my mentors were also my advisors, but these advisors of course come from a different era, so I continue to develop myself by reading current publications. I also draw inspiration from the work of my American colleagues. In America, the aesthetic industry has been at the forefront for years. The marketing and PR is much further along there. At the Aesthetic & Anti-Aging Medicine World Congress (AMWC) I met the famous American surgeon Paul Nassif. He is known as an incredible PR machine. My team and I also want to implement this here in the Netherlands.”
