The elite of fashion, film and music gathered at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City for an evening full of glamour and above all: statement looks. The theme? “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style”. These are the five ensembles that will be talked about for a long time.
Bad Bunny
Bad Bunny knows how to rock the Met Gala. For his fourth time on the famous staircase, he went big with a look that was not only stylish, but also personal and culturally charged. He worked with Prada for months to create an outfit that honors his roots and fits the theme “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style.”
He wanted something classic but with a twist—and that became a brown mohair suit with a cropped jacket and slightly flared pants, inspired by the outfits of salsa legends like Héctor Lavoe. The tie and hat reference the traditional pava of the jíbaros, the farmers from the interior of Puerto Rico. “When we heard that the theme was about Black fashion, we got super excited. We immediately felt that we could connect it to Puerto Rican and Afro-Caribbean culture,” he told Vogue.
The accessories were just as well thought out: gloves with 600 yellow crystals, a bowling bag that symbolized everything he carries on tour, and cowboy boots straight from the Prada catwalk.
Madonna
After nearly a decade away, Madonna returned to the Met Gala – this time in a sleek ivory suit by Tom Ford. The look featured a classic jacket, pleated trousers and a white shirt with a gardenia on the lapel. Accompanied by designer Haider Ackermann, the singer climbed the steps with a cigar in hand.
Kim Kardashian
The biggest fashion night of the year and Kim Kardashian’s favorite event? That calls for a flashy entrance—and she got one. The reality star made a late but stylish appearance on the steps of the Met Gala, wearing a black leather ensemble by Chrome Hearts that referenced this year’s popular Western trend.
Her look featured a crocodile-textured leather top with a statement shoulder detail and an open back with a belted closure, paired with a fitted skirt with a long train.
Nicole Kidman
Last year, Nicole Kidman rocked a remake of a 50s Balenciaga dress. This year, she teamed up with the fashion house again, this time with a new creation that was just as impressive – and once again inspired by Cristóbal Balenciaga’s archive.
The dress she wore was based on a 1952 design and was revived by Demna, the now outgoing creative director of Balenciaga. The result was a black, strapless evening gown with a striking square neckline, a flared skirt and two bows at the waist.
A $ AP Rocky
As co-host of the 2025 Met Gala, A$AP Rocky couldn’t go unnoticed – and he certainly didn’t. He showed up in a striking outfit from his own label AWGE.
The jacket he wore was inspired by the Marmot jackets he often saw as a teenager in his native Harlem. For Rocky, those jackets are a symbol of his youth, and with this look he paid stylish homage to it.
He paired the jacket with a white shirt, black trousers, a waistcoat, a wool tie and satin boxer shorts that peaked just above his trousers. His shoes – a collaboration with Christian Louboutin – and jewellery by Bvlgari completed the look.
