The 'World's 50 Best Bars 2024' has been revealed and this year the honour goes to a special place with a Dutch touch. With participants from 28 cities and 16 newcomers, this prestigious list remains a benchmark for cocktail lovers worldwide. The jury judges on hospitality, creativity and, of course, the quality of the drinks themselves. A well-deserved toast to the winners!
The big winner this year is Handshake Speakeasy in Mexico City, led by Amsterdam-based Bar Director Eric van Beek. The speakeasy took home the title of Best Bar in North America as well as the global number one. It is the first time that a bar from Mexico has received this honor. Hidden in the Colonia Juárez neighborhood, behind a mysterious door, the bar offers a unique combination of refined vintage spirits and cutting-edge cocktail techniques, according to the jury. The atmosphere is reminiscent of the speakeasies of old Hollywood, while the cocktail menu is rooted in the future.
