Cadabomb Okami is unique. Not only because of his price tag, but especially because of his origins. The young male is a cross between a Caucasian Shepherd – originally a guard dog from the rugged mountain regions of the Caucasus, combined with the genes of a real wolf. The result? An impressive appearance of 75 kilos.  

The buyer, S. Sathish from Bangalore, is a well-known name in the Indian dog world. He has a collection of over 150 different dog breeds and deliberately invests in exceptional specimens. His goal: to introduce rare breeds to India and to use them for public performances. 

“He looks exactly like a wolf,” says Sathish. “Such a breed has never been sold before. That’s why I gladly paid Rs 50 million (€5,3 million) for it. I like to introduce unique dogs to India.”

Okami is not exactly a companion dog. Sathish uses his animals as living attractions at events, film screenings and exclusive gatherings. For a short appearance with Okami he asks between €2.500 and €10.500, depending on the duration and location. 

On his seven-hectare estate, the owner offers his dogs the necessary space, comfort and safety. Each dog has its own kennel of 36 square meters, the terrain is equipped with camera surveillance and a team of six caretakers provides their food daily - raw meat, adapted to the breed and build.

However, there are also critical voices. Wolfdogs – crossbreeds between wild and domesticated animals – are, according to experts, complex in behavior and upbringing. In unsuitable circumstances, even a prized four-legged friend can develop into an unguided projectile…
