Audi has released the first of a series of three concept cars. The car has been given the name 'Audi Skysphere'. The vehicle can be used as a grand tourer or a sports car. With the skysphere, Audi wants to make the environment inside the car an experience. Text: Bart-Jan Brouwer

Vision of the luxury of tomorrow
Audi's new concept car 'skysphere' is an electrically powered roadster, with which the German car manufacturer shows its vision of the luxury segment of tomorrow. The interior becomes an interactive space and the flexible platform makes it possible to use the car as a comfortable Grand Tourer and as a sports car. The secret is in the variable wheelbase. An advanced system makes it possible to extend the wheelbase and thus the length of the car itself by 250 mm. In Sports mode, the skysphere uses the short wheelbase (car length 4,94 meters), in Grand Touring mode the length of the skysphere is 5,19 meters. At the same time, the pedals and steering wheel disappear, allowing you to enjoy an even more spacious interior. In this mode, the skysphere drives autonomously and as a passenger you can use the sound system and all internet functions that the concept car offers (for example watching films or videoconferencing). The design of the skysphere is inspired by the Horch 853, a roadster that set the tone in luxury in the 1.800s. In combination with the relatively low total weight of 465 kg, the 620 kW/750 hp electric motor (maximum torque 0 Nm) enables acceleration from 100-500 km/h in four seconds. The maximum range is expected to be more than XNUMX km.
