In March this year, Watches & Wonders took place in Geneva. Here one could admire the latest models and the cream of the crop in the watch field. David Bijlsma, CCO of GASSAN Diamonds is enthusiastic. He is happy to share his findings with MASTERS.
“Last March, Watches & Wonders took place in Geneva, the largest watch and jewelry fair in the world. We are super excited about the newly released watches. Such as the Rolex GMT-Master II in both a full yellow gold and yellow gold/steel version (Rolesor), only available on the classic and beautiful 'jubilee' bracelet. At Cartier, the Santos was central, including some limited editions such as the Santos-Dumont in yellow gold with Skeleton movement, with Alberto Santos-Dumont's airplane in gold on the rotor. And what do you think of the Jaeger-LeCoultre Reveso One Precious Colours? There are few brands that can enamel in such a special way. Panerai released a new Radiomir with an 8-day power reserve. Tudor launched a new version of the Black Bay with a burgundy bezel. Chopard attracted a lot of attention because none other than Julia Roberts showed the new watches and jewelry. The most striking was the Alpine Eagle 41 XPS, an ultra-flat model with a salmon pink dial. TAG Heuer focuses on the Carrera Glassbox, which has a 'dome' sapphire glass so that the dial is clearly readable from all angles. Time flies
Taking the sleek, understated shape of the iconic Santos-Dumont watch to the next level: that was the challenge for the Cartier Manufacture, which this year introduces a new, specially developed automatic skeleton caliber 9629 MC. Every detail of the new Santos-Dumont watch pays tribute to aviation. For example, the timepiece contains a miniature functional oscillating weight in the shape of a replica of the Demoiselle, a pioneering aircraft designed in 1907 by Brazilian pilot Alberto Santos-Dumont. The watch is made in rose gold, steel and – as a limited edition – in yellow gold and marine lacquer.
Art deco on the wrist
Available in two color variations, the Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso One Precious Colors features a richly decorated case that pays tribute to the geometric style of art deco. Also new: the Reverso Tribute Duoface Tourbillon. In its new ultra-thin rose gold case, the absence of an upper bridge allows an unobstructed view of the flying tourbillon, which is also visible at the back.
Carrera 60 years!
TAG Heuer's Carerra model is celebrating its sixtieth anniversary and is being celebrated with the launch of two new models. Firstly, the Glassbox Carrera Chronograph. This comes in two versions: with a sleek, black and silver 'reverse panda' dial and with a distinctive blue dial with a deep blue calfskin leather strap. Secondly, the Glassbox Carrera Chronograph Tourbillon, with deep azure subdials, vibrant orange details on each hour marker and a triangular seconds hand. The new Glassbox models honor the past while paving the way for the brand's future.
Connection with the world
With the Rolex GMT-Master II you can view the time in a different time zone. This watch marks our connection to the world. The model is now available in two new versions: one in 18-carat yellow gold, one in yellow Rolesor. Both are equipped with a Cerachrom bezel ring made of gray and black ceramic, a completely new color combination. The contrast between the gold of the Jubilee bracelet and the two-tone bezel with darker, less saturated colors recall the Earth's orbit around the sun and the change between day and night.
