Concept for a floating city
We previously wrote about the Maldives Floating City, which is currently being realized by two Dutch architectural firms. However, Italian Pierpaolo Lazzarini imagines something bigger than a floating city and comes up with the Pangeos. The concept for a floating city, twice larger than the Roman Colosseum.
The concept of it Tera Yacht takes its name from Pangea, a supercontinent that existed millions of years ago during the late Paleozoic era. If the Pangeos is ever built, it will become the world's largest structure ever built with a length of 550 meters and a width of 610 meters. But that will take some time... The realization will take an estimated eight years and cost approximately €5 billion.
'On board' will accommodate 60.000 people. Yet the Pangeos can sail at a speed of five knots. The roof is covered with solar panels that will provide some of the green energy needed to meet the city's needs. There will be several hotels, shopping centers, parks, harbors and airports on the Tera Yacht.
To take the first step towards realization, the designer has started crowdfunding in the form of NFTs. This makes it possible to purchase a digital space on the Pangeos in advance.
