What Amsterdam means to the sound king

What does Amsterdam mean to them? What would they do if they were mayor for a day? What are the secret addresses in Amsterdam? And what novelties will they show the visitors of MASTERS SUMMER EDITION? The summer sister of MASTERS EXPO will transform the prestigious De L'Europe Amsterdam into a true fairytale hotel from 19 to 21 June. Here, the summer and 750 years of Amsterdam will be celebrated in style for three days. It is the turn of sound king and participant Jobs Brussee from Bang & Olufsen Brussee to share his view of our Mokum.

What does Amsterdam mean to you in one word, and why?

''Freedom. Freedom of enterprise, freedom of who you may be, feeling that everything is possible. That you can develop yourself here, have fun going out and that this city is always on and alive! I come from Oegstgeest myself and currently live in Katwijk aan Zee, so I am not a 'real Amsterdammer', but I get happy every time I am there.''

If you were mayor of Amsterdam for a day, what would you tackle first?

''I would turn down this offer, it is impossible in the current political existence to make decisions in 'no time', let alone to implement them. I am really enjoying myself both privately and professionally, so I enjoy that every day.''

Which place in Amsterdam has a special meaning for you, and why?

''The Museumplein on the Van Baerlestraat, because both my sons live here very nicely and we have a wonderful shop there. It also borders the Vondelpark, a wonderful melting pot of people, the boys like to train there, all sorts of things happen here.''

Name one of your 'secret favorite places' in the city.

''Well, those addresses aren't that secret, we sometimes have lunch at the Conservatorium Hotel, like to go to Oger, to the Bijenkorf and of course to the Cornelis Schuytstraat. But also the canals, the new neighborhoods, the many terraces and beautiful places: Amsterdam is simply a unique city. Of course, our customers also take us to the most beautiful houses and apartments, it is sometimes breathtaking what you can experience.''

Which Amsterdammer is your greatest hero?

''There can really only be one: Johan Cruijff, footballer, trainer, analyst; great personality who meant a lot to the Netherlands. Statements with eternal value.''

What will you bring to MASTERS SUMMER EDITION?

''That will be a truly spectacular installation by Bang & Olufsen. The Atelier Art Deco Limited Edition. The Beovision Theatre with accompanying Beolab 28 speakers, in unique Art Deco style! In connection with the 100th anniversary of our brand Bang & Olufsen, 100 of these sets will be produced exclusively. Bang & Olufsen Brussee Amsterdam has been able to reserve no less than three of these sets and the unveiling of this masterpiece will take place at the Masters in Amsterdam.''
