9 ROMANTIC LUXURY HOTELS

3 juli 2020Door MASTERS Redactie4 min lezenTRAVEL & LEISURE

It may sound cliché, but it's true: traveling is the only thing that costs money that makes you rich. What could be more romantic than sharing this with your loved one? These are the most romantic hotels at home and abroad.

The Sarojin, Khao Lak, Thailand

They have a thing about candles here. At night, dozens of candles are placed around your private pool and just as many torches are placed in the private dining, but when a wedding takes place it becomes a true extravaganza of lights. The rooms are beautifully modern, neat and minimalist.

San Lorenzo Mountain Lodge, Elle, South Tyrol, Italy

“What we offer is beyond luxury”

This chalet served as a hunting lodge in the sixteenth century and was owned by the bishop of South Tyrol. Former CEO of Escada, Stefano Barbini has transformed this gem into a paradise, preserving the original state as much as possible. There is a special one relaxation room with a sauna, steam bath and jacuzzi at your disposal. For 2400 euros per night you will be completely immersed in luxury.

Leela Palace, Udaipur, India

Be romantic and let the house boat sail ahead, bottle of champagne on board, parasol over your head and just sail around the lake. Pure Indian hospitality here, which means scented candles and lotus flowers are everywhere. Reserve a table at the indoor rooftop restaurant Sheesh Mahal, known for its authentic Indian cuisine.

Amangani, Jackson Hole, USA

“Former Victoria's Secret model Adriana Lima named the Amangani as one of her favorite getaways, calling it “very romantic”

The Teton Range in the Rocky Mountains is notorious for its steep slopes. We didn't even want to go near them – mainly because the Amangani is a hotel you never want to leave. It's warm and rustic, with impressive views from every angle thanks to huge windows.

Engelenburg Castle, Brummen, Netherlands

The sitting room of this suite is made entirely of glass, which is situated in a beautiful conservatory with French doors leading to a private garden bordering the moat, which even contains a jacuzzi. The bathroom inside is a small ballroom and there is plenty of space for storing golf equipment (the hotel has its own 9-hole golf course). The castle itself is romantic and castle-like and so white that it looks like it is soaked every day.

Blanket Bay, Glenorchy, New Zealand

A lot of weddings are held in this hotel, even in winter. You hardly see young couples come out, because they stay indoors in their private chalets. The rooms in the main lodge are just perfect. If you want to go heli-skiing, you can do so here.

The Orangery, Bruges, Belgium

Can it be more romantic? Swans swim by in the canal while you are in the room surrounded by floral wallpaper, fresh flowers and net curtains fluttering softly in the wind. Housed in a 15ecentury monastery, this small hotel (twenty rooms) is now world famous as the romantic place in almost overly romantic Bruges. American tourists love the Heritage Rooms (they think they are really being medieval), but I would recommend a room with a view of the water. They are the most expensive. But extra fun simply costs extra money.

Four Seasons, Florence, Italy

The disadvantage is that it is not centrally located, the advantage is the rest: the gigantic private park with romantic pavilions, the almost hysterically excessive luxury (including antique ceiling paintings everywhere), the larger-than-life antique marble statue in the hall of an extremely muscular David with a very small penis and I could go on and on. Top of the bill is the Presidential Suite at La Villa, with original frescoes in the living room, authentic slatted ceiling in the bedroom and a view of the hotel park.

Alila Villas, Uluwatu, Bali

“Infamous singer Justin Bieber has stayed with his mother at the Alila Villas three times. In case you're wondering, they stayed at the Soori property (the hotel's most remote area)”

This hotel has a modern design that has won several architecture awards. Everything is beautiful. From the suites in off-white, to the beautiful cliff where weddings are held almost every day. A more romantic place than this is unthinkable. It is the perfect balance between luxurious and casual: the intention is to taste the best wines while wearing your slippers. By far the best address in Bali!
