The predictions don't lie; the temperatures for the next few days will be tropical. And what could be better on such a hot day than sitting outside, with a cold drink in hand, enjoying a good movie? MASTERS lists the most beautiful open-air cinemas in the Netherlands…

1. Movies at the Hermitage | Amsterdam 

The fifth edition of Movies at the Hermitage in Amsterdam will take place this year in the last two weeks of August. Film experts put together the program and chose eleven gems from film classics. A total of 10 film evenings will be organised. The film will be on Wednesday, August 17 Discount on display, Thursday, August 18 Little Miss Sunshine, the film will shine on Sunday, August 21 Jojo Rabbit on the big screen and on Sunday, August 28 Life of Pi. A nice bonus; Every performance has a supporting program with a film quiz where great prizes are given away... 

2. Forest cinema | Hilversum 

In a magical place, in the middle of the forest, when dusk falls, watch films together that warm your heart; This is possible this summer in the Bosbios near Hilversum from July 19 to September 18. But not just any films are shown here, a selection has been made of sincere stories about personal quests and life questions that give you food for thought. There is also an extra program around each theme with workshops, music or inspiring speakers.

3. Seize the Night Film Festival | Amsterdam 

This annual open-air film festival on the Stenen Hoofd in Amsterdam guarantees sultry summer evenings with the most beautiful films on a big screen that you watch from your beach chair, under a blanket with a campfire and cocktails... The Amsterdam edition of Pluk de Nacht takes place from August 17 to 27. The initiators are a group of friends with a great love for film. They select gems from various film festivals that have not been released in the Netherlands or have reached a small audience.

4. Outdoor cinema | Den Bosch 

From July 7 to September 3, the Outdoor Cinema in Den Bosch will screen the latest films and finest classics in the courtyard of the Verkadefabriek. New this year are the headphones, which makes the movie experience even better. The outdoor cinema is open from Tuesday to Saturday. There will be one on Wednesday Best of 2022 film, on Thursday you see a classic, on Friday it is Friday Music Night and a premiere film will be shown on Saturday. You might even see your favorite film, as a request issue will be shown on Tuesday; a film chosen by one of the Instagram followers.

5. Rooftop cinema | Utrecht 

This summer, Pathé Utrecht Leidsche Rijn will be showing its films on the unique roof terrace of the cinema. If the film doesn't really appeal to you, you can at least enjoy the view of the Utrecht skyline. Every day you can choose from 20 to 25 different film titles; from action to romantic comedy and from sci-fi to drama, something for everyone.
