As the evenings grow longer and temperatures rise, we spend more time outdoors. MASTERS has selected five outdoor sports and the finest places to enjoy them.

Now that the longer evenings have arrived again and the temperatures are rising further, we are increasingly leaving our living rooms. And with summer in mind, we could use some sportiness in our lives again. Now that the opening of the gyms is still a long way off, outdoor sports are more popular than ever. M also sprint out and move five outdoor sports in a row with beautiful locations.Text: Patrick Stoffer

Golf at The Duke Club, Nistelrode

Golf club in your hand, address and tee off that ball. Then of course hope that you score that hole-in-one. Golf is becoming an increasingly popular sport in times of corona, which of course you should practice at one of the most beautiful clubs in the Netherlands. Work on your handicap at The Duke Club in Nistelrode and measure yourself against golf legend Tiger Woods.

Tennis at Tennis Club Park Marlot, Wassenaar

Enjoy an hour of playing doubles (singles are also possible) with friends and then evaluate the game on the terrace of Park Marlot in Wassenaar. The nationally located tennis court between The Hague and Wassenaar is hidden in the green. If you have beaten your opponent(s), let them treat you for the victory at Brasserie Checkpoint Charlie next to the tennis court.

Padel at Peakz Padel, Amsterdam

Tennis and squash have gone through the blender, resulting in the rising sport of padel. And quite a few Dutch people have now taken up padel. You can hit a ball on one of the outdoor courts throughout the country. Peakz Padel locations can be found in Amsterdam, Utrecht, Zwolle and Groningen. It is not possible to become a member at the club. You simply pay per pot, so you are not committed to anything.

Swimming at SportPlaza Mercator, Amsterdam

Did you know that while swimming you use almost all the muscles in your entire body? And that an hour of swimming burns approximately 650 calories? Reason enough to immediately dive into the pool and spend an hour front crawling through the water. This open-air swimming pool in Amsterdam overlooks the accompanying, fully vegetated sports hall. So get a season ticket quickly and be summer-ready! Photo: VenhoevenCS

Jeu de boules, everywhere

Still looking for a slightly quieter sport? Then go play pétanque. If you think that only the very elderly participate in this sport, then you are completely wrong. It is a competitive sport for both young and old and best of all: you can do it anywhere! As long as you have a set of steel balls, a wooden ball and a distance meter for the real fanatics among us.
