Summer is officially over, which means it's time for movie nights on the couch again. There is no shortage of offerings on Netflix; good documentaries and series are popping up like mushrooms. You shouldn't miss these three versatile viewing tips! Text: Larissa Schaule Jullens

Selling Sunset

Combine reality TV with luxury estates and wrap that in a jacket full of drama and then you get the Netflix series Selling Sunset. This series closely follows the luxurious life of the real estate agents of The Oppenheim Group in LA. These women sell the most expensive, luxurious and extraordinary homes in LA and that comes with a lot of jealousy, struggle and competition. Some scenes seem more scripted than real, but that doesn't make it any less entertaining. If you like decadent luxury and 'over the top', then Selling Sunset is a treat.

American Factory

Due to the economic crisis in 2009, the largest car factory in Dayton, Ohio, had to close its doors. More than 7000 people are losing their jobs – some of them are also losing their homes. In 2015, a Chinese billionaire decided to invest millions in the factory to turn it into an efficient company. Both American and Chinese workers start working as employees in the factory, but it soon becomes clear that these two cultures do not get along well. The Americans do not like the harsh Chinese mentality and a grim situation soon arises between the two. American Factory is a fascinating documentary in which two cultures collide.

Magnetic

An extreme film with adrenaline running through it like a common thread. In Magnetic the lives of extreme athletes are examined. Surfing a 20 meter high wave in Nazaré, paragliding, off-piste skiing and climbing to the top of the highest mountain in Switzerland; these athletes stop at nothing. The film consists of several chapters and each chapter features a different extreme sport. Both the beautiful and the less beautiful sides of practicing an extreme sport are discussed. If excitement and sports are also high on your list, then you can't miss this film!
