Former Master and automotive designer Niels van Roij does not sit still. Together with his team, he has delivered a new coachbuilding project: the Silver Specter Shooting Brake. This handmade car is named after the image of a phantom, ghost or spirit. This masterpiece attracts attention, as does that of MASTERS.

Silver Spectre

The luggage compartment has soft leather upholstery, which compliments the interior colors and materials of the car. The wide and low rear window is recessed into the bodywork: this links to English coachbuilt cars and gives a sense of occasion and heritage: the unusual proportions make a strong impact.

The Legendary 7

Only 7 Silver Specter cars are made worldwide. All 7 cars from the Silver Specter Shooting Brakeseries have a customized and strikingly unique design theme. This includes individual color schemes and materials for both interior and exterior, one-off single or two-tone exterior paints and pinstripes applied by hand to the bodywork. High-gloss polished wood on the dashboard and doors, embroidery on the headrests, personalized running boards and matching leather or silk upholstery are a selection of the interior choices compiled by Niels van Roij Design.

World's Largest Infinity Starlight Headliner

Designer Niels van Roij: “Inside Silver Specter Shooting Brake the handcrafted Infinity Starlight Headliner is a true statement and manifestation of our bespoke capabilities. In a world first, the stars have a fade-out backwards, which gives the impression of an endless starry sky. The hand-woven skyscape of fiber optic threads consists of almost 2000 lights. It takes many dozens of hours to install these dimmable stars. They can be seen from all four seats.”

Inspiration

Designer Niels van Roij: “We subtly link back to the heyday of shooting brakes in the 30s. Immediately after the windscreen, the roofline becomes fast - it accelerates faster and faster downwards - and runs to the even faster rear window, from which an elegantly protruding trunk is created. This is subtly reminiscent of the vintage and stately English limousines from the 50s and 60s. We have designed a bold, three-box shooting brake.”

What is a Shooting Brake?

Shooting brake is a body style that originated in the 1890s. A shooting brake was a cart that had been converted to accommodate dogs, guns and shot game. In the 1900s, wealthy people, mainly in Britain, began converting their cars for hunting. The style of vehicle became popular in Britain during the 1920s and 1930s. They had their own car converted by coachbuilders. A shooting brake is to be a handmade car with a continuous roofline, based on a car that is not a station wagon. They are often a luxurious or sporty model.
