Travolta, Chaplin and Chewbacca under the hammer: iconic film pieces auctioned for millions

From March 26 to 28, Propstore is organizing a spectacular auction in Los Angeles. On the program? More than 1.350 film pieces, with a total estimated value of around € 7.36 million.

The showpiece? A pair of worn-in, film-worn boots. But not just any shoes – these are Charlie Chaplin’s original “Little Tramp” boots from The Great Dictator (1940). Seen in legendary scenes and photo-matched with historical production photos. The symbolism? According to Chaplin himself, the boots represented the worries that hinder man. Suggested retail price: between €115.000 and €230.000.

John Travolta's leather jacket as Danny Zuko also appears Grease shines under the auction hammer. Worn during the famous “Greased Lightning” scene, and a style statement in itself. Estimate? Up to €184.000.

Prefer something a little more intergalactic? Chewbacca's bowcaster – the weapon of the furry hero from Star Wars – is also on offer, with a guide price of around €460.000. Just like Christopher Reeve's Superman suit from Superman III, which is estimated at €185.000 to €370.000.
