Fiji can soon count on a new luxurious base. Located on a private island, an Austrian company is building a series of environmentally conscious beach homes here, along with an impressive fleet of emission-free yachts.

The Austrian yacht builder Silent Yachts recently announced that it would build a new resort, completely powered by solar energy. The Fiji project will be the second solar-powered resort built by Silent-Resorts. The first is in Exuma, the Bahamas as we speak under construction.

With its beautiful, unspoilt natural environment on both land and sea and the hospitality of the Fijian people, it was the company's perfect base for an adventurous and luxury solar-powered destination.

The resort will have 28 homes with four, five or six bedrooms, 14 two-bedroom homes in the marina and 10 two-bedroom homes on the beach. A marina indeed, because as an owner you also have exclusive access to a number of electric Silent tenders, speed boats and catamarans powered by, yes, solar energy.

Silent Yachts founder and CEO Michael Köhler calls it the ultimate Fijian escape: “Silent Resorts owners can explore the breathtaking surroundings aboard the world’s first fully solar-powered yachts, seamlessly integrated with the resorts’ low-impact land-based infrastructure. We offer our owners the ultimate Fijian escape, where the hardest question they will ever have to answer is: ‘When do we want to return to our private paradise?' ''
