This is the most expensive parking spot in the Netherlands

We don't need to tell you that house prices are skyrocketing these days. But you can also pay a lot of money for a place where you can park your car. The country's most expensive parking spot? This is it.

"We offer a parking space for sale or rent in the best-known and most exclusive shopping street in the Netherlands, the PC Hooftstraat," reads the advertisement text on real estate platform Funda. It is no surprise that the most expensive parking space is in our capital.

The parking lot is 4,65 meters long and 3,85 meters wide. So about 18 m2. As an indication: a Range Rover sport is 4,95 meters long and 2,05 meters wide, so unfortunately it is too long. What it is suitable for is for wider, short cars.

However, the car would be easy to enter at the location and there would be enough space for the driver and passenger(s) to get out.

And what does that cost?

The parking space on Amsterdam's PC Hooftstraat is for sale, but also for rent. The 18 square meter spot will cost you €495.000 or €750 per month. On top of that there are service costs of € 100 per month. But according to the advertisement, you get a very spacious spot, which is extra wide, so you also have room for a scooter or biro, and in return a convenient location in a closed complex.

So you pay around € 27.500 per square meter. For comparison: the square meter price in the first quarter of 2024 for a house was €7.962 in Amsterdam and €3.888 in the Netherlands. But then you do have a place to park your car at one of the most beautiful locations in Amsterdam. Ideal for immediately loading your fully loaded bags from the shopping street.
