What is your favorite museum and why?

"My favorite museum is of course the Huygens Museum in Voorburg, of which the Hofwijck country estate is part. In the tower, in the middle of the cleverly planned greenery, you can feel how Constantijn Huygens enjoyed life here."

What book has made a big impression on you recently?

“To better understand what is happening in Ukraine now, the book was The New Tsar by Steven Lee Myers an eye-opener. This biography of Putin was recommended to me by former Shell CEO Jeroen van der Veer, probably the Dutchman who has spoken to Putin the most.”

Do you have a favorite movie that you would recommend to everyone?

”A video I don't want to miss around Christmas is Dinner for One with Freddy Frinton as the social butler. Easy to find on YouTube!”

What is your favorite travel destination and what is the hidden gem here that tourists often miss?

In London, under St. Martin-in-the-Fields, is the restaurant The crypt. Here, poor Londoners, who get a big discount with a special pass, sit at a table among shoppers and tourists who pay the full price. A beautiful mix with a beautiful ideology. Delicious, typical British food with excellent wine.”

Who is your favorite artist and how does this music influence your daily life?

“When I want to relax, I just leave a candle burning and I like to put Mirror in Mirror op, a well-known piano piece by Arvo Pärt.”

What is your favorite restaurant and what dish would you recommend there?

“The place to go for dinner to get a feel for casual and cosmopolitan Amsterdam is Troef.”
