HOW TO DISCOVER THE NEW WORLD: ELEKTRISCH

If one thing is certain, it is that the future consists of more and more electrical products. Some products are still just a concept, but in LXRY List 2021 we can already take a look. Online editor: Natasha Hendriks
The Aptera
The popularity of electric driving continues to increase. In addition to the usual suspects, new car manufacturers are also entering the arena. To be fair, charging remains an issue, especially if you have to deal with cables. The Aptera takes a different approach: the car is equipped with solar panels and therefore runs on self-generated energy. The makers are positive and report that the car generates more energy than is necessary for driving. Of course, the vehicle is also equipped with an autopilot, as we would expect from a respectable car.
Extreme E
Extreme E is a new electric racing series with 550 hp off-road vehicles. One race is called 'X Prix' and, according to the organizer, it is a cross between the Dakar Rally and Star Wars. The races are of course about competition and fun, but Extreme E also has a bigger goal, namely spreading a message of climate change and sustainability. And that in locations where you certainly won't encounter charging stations. Racing takes place over polar ice and fjords in Greenland, on the ocean coast of Senegal, on glaciers in Tierra del Fuego, but also through the Amazon and the desert of Saudi Arabia. Among the team owners you will find legendary names such as Rosberg, Hamilton and Andretti. The drivers include rally legends such as Carlos Sainz and Sebastian Loeb. Electric cars have improved spectacularly this century, but now they can prove that they can handle even the toughest conditions.
Harley-Davidson LiveWire
In its more than one hundred year history, Harley Davidson has created an image of chrome, silencer-less exhausts and the American outlaw lifestyle. It is a brand that you would almost expect to be committed to Make Gasoline Great Again. But already in 2014, the Wisconsin manufacturer surprised with the prototype of an electric Harley. The Harley Davidson LiveWire was actually released in 2019. The first LiveWire is certainly not cheap. However, it is a very good and comfortable cruiser, which can go to places where its noisy relatives have already been banned. Price: from €34.000.
