GASSAN opens doors in Eindhoven: "People who work hard also want to reward themselves"

Big news for watch and jewelry lovers in Brabant: GASSAN is opening a new branch in the heart of Eindhoven. The decision to expand to this city of light art and technology seems like a logical step for the family business. According to President and CEO Benno Leeser: ''We already knew the market in the Brainport Region a little through the close contacts we have with PSV and quickly saw that this is a region with enormous economic growth potential. And people who work hard also want to reward themselves.''

GASSAN's growth strategy was already in the pipeline, but the Covid pandemic accelerated the plans of the Amsterdam diamond merchant to open exclusive brand stores outside Amsterdam and Schiphol. After the opening of the Rotterdam branch, Eindhoven is now also celebrating its official debut. The family business is not only bringing brands such as OMEGA, Glashütte, Longines and Breitling, but also its own brands such as Choices by DL, TROPHY BY GASSAN, Gigi by GASSAN and GASSAN 121 to the south of the Netherlands. 

President and CEO Benno Leeser explains: “The Covid pandemic accelerated the existing plans to open branches in the Netherlands outside of Amsterdam and Schiphol.” Before Covid, tens of thousands of tourists visited GASSAN’s historic diamond cutting factory and jewelry stores every year. During the corona crisis, this came to a complete standstill. “We obviously didn’t want to sit in a corner and cry, so we decided to change our strategy. In the middle of that quiet period, we started looking at how we could focus more on the local, Dutch market, so that we wouldn’t remain so dependent on tourism.”

In addition, the family business has been Official Timekeeper of PSV since 2016. According to Benno Leeser: “We already knew the market in the Brainport Region a little bit through the close contacts we have with PSV and quickly saw that this is a region with enormous economic growth potential. And people who work hard also want to reward themselves. And what better way to do that than by treating yourself to an exclusive watch or a luxury jewel? In addition to the close contacts with PSV and the TROPHY BY GASSAN collection, professional footballers also regularly find their way to GASSAN. In an interview, Leeser says the following: ''We already sold quite a few watches to footballers, but not really any jewellery. They bought them from addresses in America and England. Three years ago, we started a separate collection specifically for them: TROPHY BY GASSAN.” In the meantime, the diamond dealer has also been able to fulfil assignments for major European football clubs. For example, GASSAN designed championship rings for Red Bull Leipzig and supplied jewellery for Atalanta Bergamo. In addition, the championship rings of both Feyenoord and Antwerp FC come from the family business.
