The BMW XM Mystique Allure
The BMW XM Mystique Allure, the result of the collaboration between BMW and Naomi Campbell, is the first vehicle in the brand’s history to be designed using materials from the high fashion industry. Inspired by Naomi’s favourite colour, the exterior features a deeply saturated ultramarine hue. The design represents a meeting point between high performance and haute couture, painting a unique picture of progressive luxury and extravagant looks that continues into the interior. All surfaces inside the car are covered in purple velvet. The bold appearance of the BMW XM Mystique Allure is complemented by an acoustic character that is also very much its own: at its heart is a bespoke adaptation of the BMW IconicSounds Electric, developed as part of the collaboration between BMW Group Sound Design and film composer Hans Zimmer. The BMW XM is the first model since the legendary BMW M1 to be designed exclusively as a standalone high-performance vehicle from BMW M GmbH. The seductive design features features such as Iconic Glow contour lighting for the kidney grille and the vertically stacked exhaust tailpipes integrated into the rear bumper. The BMW XM is also the first high-performance car from BMW M GmbH to feature an electrified drive system (M HYBRID). With a maximum output of 550 kW and 748 hp, the plug-in hybrid model is the most powerful series-production, road-legal car ever produced by BMW M GmbH. “I feel deeply honoured to have been the inspiration for their very first high-fashion show car,” says Campbell.
Tourbillon at full speed
The successor to the Bugatti Chiron is a plug-in hybrid hypercar with an atmospheric V16 under the hood. That's right: no electric power source, but an old-fashioned combustion engine. Bugatti owner Rimac Automobili showed the potential of a fully electric drivetrain with the Rimac Nevera (1.914 hp), but it turns out that customers in this segment are not waiting for that. Of the 150 copies of the Rimac Nevera, only 50 have been sold so far. The brand new Bugatti Tourbillon has a unique 8,3-liter V16 (300 cc more than the W16 in its predecessor). For this type of engine you have to go back in time: in the thirties you had a Cadillac V16. The engine has 1.000 hp. That is 500 hp less than the W16 of the Chiron, but the driving forces of three electric motors must be added to that. That brings you to a total output of 1.800 hp, good for a sprint from 0 to 100 in 2 seconds, from 0 to 200 in 5,5 seconds, from 0 to 300 in just under 10 seconds and from 0 to 400 in 25 seconds (7 seconds faster than the Chiron). The regular top speed is 380 km/h, but with a special key a mode can be activated where the rear spoiler dives all the way down and, apparently, can be reached at least 445 km/h. The instrument panel in the interior is a showpiece, made up of titanium gears, sapphire glass and rubies, and was the inspiration for the name Tourbillon. The first models from the edition of 250 units will be released in 2026. Price: 3,8 million euros excluding taxes.
A taste of the future
Rolls-Royce founders Charles Rolls and Henry Royce were committed to pushing the boundaries of technology and excellence, so they created the EX concept to explore the possibilities of what was possible. EX – standing for EXperimental – is a core part of Rolls-Royce’s DNA. Each car is an expression of a deep-seated fascination with the future: what’s next and how can we make it happen? Each model is a blend of science fiction and history: it’s hard to remember when the advances of decades past seemed so impressively futuristic, yet the promise of tomorrow’s innovations continues to excite. The first Experimental Car was produced in 2004 to mark the centenary of Charles and Henry’s first meeting. Boasting an extraordinary 9-litre V16 engine, the 100EX was never intended for production, but eventually evolved into the Phantom Drophead Coupé in 2007, proving that EX models really do offer a glimpse into the future. For example, 200’s 2009EX, with its unique monocoque structure and all-new 6,6-liter, twin-turbocharged V-12 engine, served as the forerunner to the Ghost. In 102’s 2011EX, the Phantom Experimental Electric, the V12 engine was replaced with a lithium-ion battery pack and dual electric motors driving the rear wheels. The 103 100EX (codenamed for VISION NEXT 2016) continues this tradition of exploration and experimentation, presenting the brand’s uncompromising vision for the future of luxury mobility: all-electric, with fully autonomous drive and enhanced artificial intelligence. Based on past performance, we can expect a 103EX lookalike to eventually hit the tarmac.
110 years of Italian luxury
With a special series of an iconic model, the GranTurismo 110 ANNIVERSARIO, Maserati celebrates 110 years of performance, design, craftsmanship, uniqueness and technology. The Maserati GranTurismo is more than a car: it is a lifestyle that perfectly embodies the spirit of the brand, a model capable of combining sporty performance with comfort and luxury over long distances. At the same time, it is also a model for the future, with a 100% electric powertrain for the first time in Maserati's history, in the Folgore version. The 110 ANNIVERSARIO is released in a limited edition of as many units as the Maserati brand is young. There are two configurations of 55 units: the first in the Rame Folgore colour, the second in the exclusive Blu Inchiostro. Both feature special finishes, rims with black and copper accents, and interiors in denim or black Econyl, with matching stitching in copper or blue. Another unique element is the logo designed exclusively for this 110th anniversary and located on the C-pillar: the Trident, followed by the numbers '110'.
