Slump Furniture
Working closely with experienced craftsmen, Paul Cocksedge managed to sensationally stretch sheets of industrial glass. They were gently pressed onto boulders, steel pipes and wood without causing fractures. The interior resulting from this method, 'Slump Furniture', is a technical tour de force: as if water were flowing over the boulder.
Red Mud Project
Tons of red mud is left behind every year when bauxite ore is processed into aluminum. Studio ThusThat designs interior with this waste tableware, vases and lamps that playfully refer to factories, chimneys and mines. The contrast between the fragile and refined ceramics from their 'Red Mud Project' and the gigantic scale of the metal industry is great. Studio ThusThat uses this contradiction to question our perception of industrial waste.
Voting system
The six ash legs of the 'Stem' system, a design by Thomas Heatherwick, differ in height and diameter, but all end in a plant bowl. They can be clamped to any worktop. The user fixes them and thus builds a workplace tailored to his or her needs. A lush green desk that helps remote workers relax.
