Image: SeabournAn expedition cruise is generally characterized by a smaller ship that can navigate well in ice and reach remote isolated destinations. The experience is provided by a team of guides, all experts in their field, depending on the area the ship visits. Zodiacs are the backbone of the expedition industry and are used several times a day to go ashore, take cruises to explore nature, spot wildlife or get up close to the local culture. The fascinating destinations are brought to life through lectures, presentations, guided walks, kayak and submarine tours, as well as snorkeling and diving. An expedition cruise gives you more insight, understanding and appreciation for the world we live in.
Extensive reach
Seabourn's newest expedition ship, the Seabourn Venture, was launched last summer. A sister ship will follow in 2023. Both ships are characterized by a brand new design and a design according to PC6 Polar Class standards, which also makes them suitable for locations that are difficult to access. An abundance of modern hardware and technology extends their reach worldwide. The ships also include features tailor-made for ultra-luxury expedition enthusiasts, including two custom-built submarines that offer unforgettable views of the world beneath the ocean's surface. There are also expedition kayaks and 24 Zodiacs on board, with enough space to transport all guests at the same time. Even e-bikes are included! Each ship is equipped with 132 luxurious veranda suites ocean view. The Expedition Lounge, an area with comfortable seating and two large touchscreen TVs, lends itself to exploring photos, maps, weather information and navigation charts. Naturally, conviviality and privacy are ensured while dining. With open seating, guests can dine anytime, anywhere, with whomever they want. Skilled chefs guarantee a culinary experience guests will never forget.
A holiday like never before
An expedition trip changes the way you look at the world, enriches you and teaches you about nature. Such a cruise is suitable for anyone who wants to explore and learn more about this incredible planet. Children are also welcome on board, although it should be noted that such trips are better suited to slightly older children, partly because of the lectures and presentations given on board. Younger children may lose interest because small expedition ships are not equipped with traditional cruise entertainment. The entertainment provided is minimal and subtle, including the occasional live performance by a pianist. It's about the expedition and the quality of the experience. Adventure with a capital A. And new adventures are coming as ultra-luxury ocean and expedition cruise line Seabourn has announced the newest Seabourn Venture itineraries. In April 2022, the expedition ship will depart for the new inaugural Wild & Ancient British Isles Voyage and Scottish and Norse Legends Expedition routes.
