Amsterdam hosts the most expensive Funda property in the Netherlands

A gigantic villa, surrounded by water and lush greenery. Not exactly what you expect in the heart of the capital. And yet? While the CBS claims that Amsterdam is not one of the most expensive municipalities to live in, the city does house the country's most expensive home.

Where can you still score a villa for a low price? Well, not in Laren or Bloemendaal. Last week, MASTERS listed the most expensive residential municipalities in the Netherlands. But the country's most expensive home? Surprisingly enough, it's right in our capital. And that comes with a hefty price tag.

In the middle of prestigious Amsterdam-Zuid stands De Dijssel No. 12, a detached villa on the Noorder-Amstelkanaal. This building from 1928, once used as an office, has now been returned to its original purpose: a residential home. Four spacious floors, a basement and an elevator complete the picture. The backyard? A 24-meter wide oasis on the water, with a direct sailing route to the canals and the Amstel.

Wellness, gym & hobby room

An architectural masterpiece like this deserves a fitting layout. Architectural firm Kodde provided a renovation with a wellness and gym in the basement, a stylish reception area and kitchen-diner on the ground floor, and multiple bedrooms with private bathrooms on the upper floors. The third floor? Freely divisible as a playroom, hobby room or luxurious guest room.

For those wondering what this piece of Amsterdam splendor must cost: a modest €15 million. A bargain, considering that you can become the proud owner for around €25.000 per square meter. Small detail: you will then have to dig deep into your pockets for a major renovation.
