Amsterdam 750: what's happening in June

From a car-free A10 to an iconic summer party at De L'Europe: discover five special events in June during Amsterdam's 750th anniversary.

Amsterdam is celebrating its 750th birthday in style, and June is packed with special events. From future scenarios during a ten-day city lab to a festive day on a car-free A10 and an intimate look at resistance photography in FOAM: the city is showing itself from all sides. These are the five must-dos this month.

FutureTen Days

During the ToekomstTendaagse – from 12 to 21 June – you will not only look back on 750 years of Amsterdam, but especially ahead. What will the city look like in 2050? Think along about mobility, fashion and living of the future. Be inspired by sustainable catwalks, VR installations, e-cart races and talks at various locations in the city. A festival for visionaries in the making.

Night of Architecture

On Friday evening 13 June you will rediscover Amsterdam during the Night of Architecture. Modern masterpieces are brought to life with tours, lectures and meetings with contemporary architects. From creative facades to visionary high-rise buildings, you will end the evening with a drink among colleagues and enthusiasts.

MASTERS SUMMER EDITION

MASTERS SUMMER EDITION, the summer sister of MASTERS EXPO, will transform the prestigious De L'Europe Amsterdam into a true fairytale hotel from 19 to 21 June. Throughout the hotel and on the terrace on the Amstel, summer will be celebrated together for three days in the heart of our capital. A unique fusion of (international) guests, influential locals, CEOs, family business owners, VIP relations, visionaries and acquaintances, where 750 years of Amsterdam will be celebrated in style.

Festival on the Ring

For one day, on June 21, the longest day of the year, the A10 will close its doors to cars and open its asphalt to people. The Ring will be the place to celebrate the birthday party of the century: 15 kilometers of car-free highway full of culture, music, sports and togetherness. There will be no more 'inside' and 'outside' the ring: you will experience this together, literally 'On the Ring'. If you didn't manage to get a ticket, don't worry: afterparties will be held throughout the city. For example, MEWE will open its doors on June 20 and 21 for a two-day night program with Amsterdam DJs, city-inspired cocktails and an atmosphere that will linger until late at night...

The Submerged Camera

In FOAM you will discover another, more compelling story of Amsterdam. The exhibition The Underground Camera shows forbidden images from the last months of WWII, recorded by a brave resistance group. A rare and impressive insight into the history of our city, on view until 2 October.
