THE WORLD'S MOST EXPENSIVE PERFUME
When you think of the most exclusive things available in the world, you think of Dubai. This city on the Persian Gulf has the tallest building in the world, the police drive a large number of supercars and the emirate of Dubai produces so much oil that it can fill 4,4 Olympic swimming pools every day. If you are looking for the crème de là crème among perfumes, then you have come to the right place.Text: Susan Poeder

The spirit of Dubai
Shumukh was launched last week for an exclusive audience at the Armani Ballroom of the Burj Khalifa. Asghar Adam Ali, the creator of the perfume that costs around 1,1 million euros, wanted to 'capture the personality of Dubai in a monumental work of art that is also the pinnacle of luxury perfumery'. This new perfume knocks the Clive Christian No.1 Collection – which sells for 180 euros for 500 ml – from the top spot of the Guinness Book of World Records.
The best of the best
Shumukh is Arabic for 'earn the best' and is unaffordable for 99% of the world's population. Anyway, this perfume is only intended for the richest 1%. The entire work of art is 1,97 meters high, contains 2 kilos of 18-carat gold and has more than 3500 diamonds, topaz and pearls. Perhaps this makes the bottle even more expensive than its 3 liter capacity.

It took a total of three years to develop this exclusive perfume. With fragrance notes such as sandalwood, musk, Turkish rose, patchouli, Ylang-Ylang and Indian oud, this together forms the ultimate unisex perfume.
