Fashionable barbeque with Floris van Bommel

As the days get longer and longer, we slowly dare to think again about wonderful, balmy summer evenings. Imagine such a summer evening; friends and family gather in the garden, the wine and beer are cold and the Big Green Egg is smoking. Then, of course, you want to look fashionable. Smoke plumes as inspiration

Thanks to Big Green Egg, outdoor cooking has been taken to a new level. Made from only the finest ceramics, the Big Green Egg has been an incredibly popular kamado since 1974. Enjoy fresh ingredients and different, exciting preparations together with friends and family. This spring, shoe brand Van Bommel is launching a women's and men's sneaker to match this perfect Big Green Egg moment. Director Floris van Bommel reveals that this time they took a thematic approach to the shoe design. During their research, their eye fell on the cheerfully curling plumes of smoke above the Big Green Eggs. The smoke plumes formed the starting point for the design.

Ultimately, the shoe became a mix of materials mixing soot-black suede with high-tech mesh on the forefoot, shiny black nylon on the side and ash-like rubber on the heel. A subtle white line of smoke also meanders on the heel. A surprising element is the color of glowing coals on the bottom of the sole. Of course, the signature look of the Big Green Egg itself is not to be missed in the design. The green dented, ceramic material is incorporated into the rubber of the stabilizer at the back near the heel.

Not just a sneaker

In addition to the limited edition sneaker, a 'Floris van Bommel for Green Egg' leather BBQ apron will also result from the collaboration. Collaborations are no stranger to Floris van Bommel, which he says keeps himself and his team on their toes. Over the years, the director has had the opportunity to work with a colorful group of companies and individuals, the similarities Floris looks for are quality, craftsmanship and tradition.
