Rafael Nadal played his last match in Málaga last Tuesday. The 38-year-old legend lost to Dutchman Botic van de Zandschulp in the quarterfinals of the Davis Cup. This ended a career that is both sporting and financially unparalleled. How much exactly did he earn? MASTERS investigated.

With 22 Grand Slam singles titles—a record he held briefly before being surpassed by Novak Djokovic—Nadal not only built a sporting legacy, but a financial one as well. His career prize money totals an impressive $134,9 million (€123 million), good for second place in the ATP rankings.

According to Forbes, he brought in another $415 million (€380 million) off the clay court with sponsorships and business deals, including collaborations with Nike, Richard Mille and our own Heineken. 

Those millions didn't just end up in the bank. According to Quote, the tennis player bought a yacht a few years ago for €5,5 million, which is moored in the harbor next to his villa in Mallorca. He also has an impressive car collection, including an Aston Martin DBS, a Ferrari 458 and a Mercedes-Benz AMG.
