Café Cress | Amsterdam

Café Cress is a new culinary addition to Amsterdam North. Niamh Groentjes, Jeffrey Klepper and Cyril Martineau are the dynamic trio that brings Café Cress to life. Although this is the first restaurant for all three to open, they bring a wealth of experience from the catering world. Jeffrey helms the front, while Cyril and Niamh run the kitchen. Says Niamh: 'Our terrace has a unique character because we are right on the water and the sun shines all day long. What makes us extra special is the weekly changing menu. This means that you can enjoy new flavor explosions every week on our terrace in the sun.' The vision of the three entrepreneurs? 'We are a neighborhood restaurant where we cook what we like. This means making as much as possible yourself, not being tied to a specific cuisine and mainly working with local suppliers. For example, Martineau roams the Amsterdam Albert Cuyp market in the morning; these ingredients form the basis of the menu.'

Matelief | Rotterdam

You will find Matelief on the edge of the bustling center of Rotterdam. Next to the well-known cube houses is the historic port of Rotterdam. With terraces overlooking the harbour. Recently Matelief can also call himself part of this. According to the owner, the USP of the Matelief terrace is its location: 'Here you will find peace and quiet in a cosmopolitan city, with a view of the cube houses, the White House and the Willems Bridge.' The All day every day concept ensures that you can choose items from the menu throughout the day and combine them to share with your table companions, for example.

Gitane | Amsterdam

With a Greek father and Dutch mother, founder Angelo Kremmydas grew up in a pleasant village in Greece, on the Aegean Sea. From a young age he watched his mother's kitchen, where she cooked for the family of four. Later in life, Angelo undisputedly chose to train as a chef and started his career in Athens at various hotels and restaurants. He recently opened Gitane, which he says is located in the nicest street in Amsterdam West: Jan Pieter Heijestraat. With the sun, exactly where you want it: during drinks time around half past three. 'The menu is extensive and we have 18 wines by the glass with origins from Greece to French classics from Burgundy. The most vibrant moment on our terrace is during dinner. A table full of Mediterranean dishes to share.'

Restobar JOS. | Maastricht

Joske van Veggel opened the doors of restobar JOS in the cozy Rechtstraat last June. Originated from a love for good food and drinks and of course the Maastricht conviviality that comes with it. In the kitchen is none other than chef Hein De Coo, who has been working in the Maastricht catering industry for fourteen years. In their own words, the menu represents 'The best of what the local market has to offer.'

Jules and Juliette | Amsterdam

Olivier Korijn and Jorn Everaerts, the proud owners of these charming terrace spots, started Qlique Bar Bistro in De Pijp three years ago. On May 26, she opened the doors of Juliette, followed by Jules on September 4, both located on the lively Valeriusplein. Imagine: starting in the morning sun with coffee and breakfast at Juliette and ending the evening with Jules on the sunny terrace with a good glass of wine and a tasty dinner. Sounds like an excellent day, right?
