International example

The organization of it Rotterdam Roof Days festival wants to show how using roofs can contribute to a healthy, vibrant, inclusive, attractive and future-proof city. They do this, among other things, with the annual festival, where all Rotterdam residents and visitors to the city are welcome on the roofs. There are oceans of new space here, such as space for art and culture, sustainability, sports, (bio)diversity, recreation and much more.

The Roof Days should serve as an international example when it comes to the possibilities of roof use. Like an open laboratory, inspiring examples and research are presented in a stimulating way to demonstrate the potential of the roof landscape.

During the festival, as a visitor you can participate in tours, where you visit several roofs accompanied by a guide or you can only follow roof routes, where you can walk on more than 30 roofs on your own. Along the way you will be introduced to theater, art, live music and you can even conduct so-called roof consultations with the municipality to discuss the possibilities of your own roof. If you want to relax in between, you can do so in the heart of the festival Hofboog Air Park while enjoying a snack and drink. Photo: Frank HanswijkPhoto: Frank HanswijkPhoto: Frank Hanswijk

Rotterdam Rooftop Walk

The roof walk on the Coolsingel of no less than 600 meters is a unique experience during the Roof Days. This exhibition was created with contributions from many designers, architects and artists. For example, the roof of the Bijenkorf is veined with greenery, designed by LOLA Landscape. The Rooftop Walk will remain open a little longer and can be visited until June 24.
