These restaurants take dining to the next level

Images projected on the table during dinner, restaurants in secret locations, the most unconventional ways of presenting a dish or just the simple simplicity that manages to make the dishes sublime. Some restaurants know how to take the culinary experience to the next level like no other. However, this comes at a price. MASTERS puts some of the world's most expensive restaurants on the (menu) map.

5. Masa | New York

On the fourth floor of the Time Warner Center in Manhattan, New York, you'll find chef Masyoshi Takayama's restaurant. He apprenticed with sushi master Sugiyama Toshiaki at the respected Ginza Sushi-ko in Tokyo. The intensive training proved invaluable and, he says, inspired his intimate relationship with food and dining as an all-encompassing experience. By the way, you don't have to look for the menu at Masa; sit back and let the chefs' creations surprise you. In addition, Masa is also a very popular place among celebrities, so should you want to spot some... Dinner at this place costs around €550.

2. Joel Robuchon | Las Vegas

Founded by the late chef Joel Robuchon, the restaurant that bears his name is the most expensive in Sin City. In 1989, the French chef was voted ''Chef of the Century.'' Robuchon's credo was: ''To make a grand meal.To make a grand meal, you have to make it simple. To look simple is very complicated. You need the highest quality products, the best equipment and you have to keep the focus on the original flavor of the product." And that comes at a price, of course. For a dinner for two you pay about €1200.

1. Sublimotion | Ibiza

Opened in 2014 in Ibiza at the Hard Rock Hotel, Sublimotion is more than just the world's most expensive restaurant. It is dining in the most futuristic way. For a price of about €1,500 per person, you can enjoy a unique culinary experience here for three hours led by chef Paco Roncero. Architects, illusionists and screenwriters joined forces to create an immersive audiovisual experience to accompany Sublimotion's Sci-Fi cuisine. For example, during dinner, moving images are projected on the table and walls that take you on a journey through different times, places and emotions.
