Reborn hotspot opens its doors again

After a twelve-week break, restaurant Flore is back and how. In a completely new jacket, with a refined concept that combines sustainability with pure flavours. In the middle of the iconic De L'Europe Amsterdam, Flore is the place to be for a long and tasteful dinner this summer.

After a twelve-week closure, Flore reopened its doors in April at De L'Europe Amsterdam. The fine dining restaurant led by Bas van Kranen unveils a revamped interior and a refined culinary concept in which sustainability plays a leading role.

As soon as you enter the renovated entrance, you feel it: Flore is no longer an average fine dining restaurant. It is an experience. The space exudes peace and refinement, with walls of lime hemp, flowing lines and a ceiling that seems to sway gently to the rhythm of the Amstel. The design by creative studio Reiters-Wings fits seamlessly with the vision of chef Bas van Kranen: pure, natural, modest and yet stimulating.

Ode to nature

During the renovation of Flore, Van Kranen ran a temporary pop-up restaurant at Basecamp Amsterdam. Here, his team delved deeply into new techniques, flavor combinations, and cooking philosophies. The result? A completely renewed menu that focuses even more on sustainability. Every dish is an ode to nature.

The chef's culinary philosophy revolves around the micro-seasons of the Netherlands. At Flore, origin, cultivation method, fishing methods and traceability of products are central. Forget caviar or foie gras: here vegetables, sustainably caught fish and locally picked herbs take centre stage.

During the corona period, Bas van Kranen reinvented himself as a chef, resulting in a complete transition of his restaurant. Flore was full from day one and was rewarded with two Michelin stars and a Green Star in the first year. MASTERS spoke to the chef in 2023: Read the interview here: “Don't copy, innovate”.
