And nothing is more annoying than having them out the door after only a year because they are totally out of the loop. What if there were a technology that preselected suitable candidates during an application process? Well ... it does exist! The startup Neurolytics has developed a technology where short online scans provide insight into candidates' cultural fit, commitment to the organization, motivation and stress resistance. MASTERS spoke with founder Felix Hermsen.

Started from the bottom and now we're...

''We started in 2018 and are now at the beginning of further (international) growth and rolling out our product. For the first year and a half, Neurolytics worked on scientific research and market exploration. We have now been live for a year. We work intensively with large corporates and focus on growing the customer base.''

Best tip you've had?

''That what got you where you are today does not always ensure where you want to be tomorrow.'' Both teamwise and individually. A good team that is motivated and focused to achieve goals together is most important. It is nice and important to have people in and around the core team who are critical, challenge you strategically and think with you.''

Why is Neurolytics so successful?

''Because we really solve a pain. The pain of hiring the wrong person who doesn't fit into your team or organization and so leaves early. It takes a lot of time, energy and money. Colleagues notice it, it costs a lot of time in recruitment, the induction, and a lot of money if someone leaves within a year. A lot of attention is paid to general skills and competencies, but we focus specifically on the match with your team and organization.

Why didn't I think of that.

''SpaceX and Musk, the vision behind it intrigues me and breaking such a conservative market with scientific innovation is impressive.''

What would you do with 1 million?

''We would invest this million to develop the technology and to further expand the team for faster growth.''

Where do you see yourselves in 5 years?

''In five years, Neurolytics will be global, helping more than 400 companies with the selection process in a data-driven and fair way so that every applicant has a fair and equal chance.''
