MOST BEAUTIFUL GOLF COURSES IN THE NETHERLANDS

Just hitting a ball: for many Dutch people this is the ultimate moment of enjoyment. Indeed, playing golf is a wonderful way out in the current crisis times. With more than 200 courses, there is plenty of choice. MASTERS selects the most beautiful golf courses in the Netherlands for a day out.Online Editor: Natasha Hendriks

Goyer Golf & Country Club, Eemnes

The Goyer is the first golf course in the Netherlands with greens built to USGA specifications. These so-called 'Bentgrass' greens are among the very best in the Netherlands and are of international quality, especially during the season. Belgian top architect Bruno Steensels was brought in to design an 18-hole championship course with an American signature at that site. He created on the compact site a golf course as challenging as it is varied with wasteland, high roughs, clear water features and bunkers. The price of a certificate is 22,000 euros. The annual membership fee is currently 1,765 euros.© Goyer Golf & Country Club

The International, Badhoevedorp

Big City, Bright Lights. The bold concept of making The International a very challenging, picture-perfect and extremely well-maintained golf course in a metropolitan setting has more than succeeded. The pure character, the pleasantly modern look of the clubhouse and the absolute top level of high-end service make a day at The International an unprecedented experience. An experience exclusive to members of The International and their guests. Count on 25,000 euros for a certificate and 2,250 euros for a one-year membership.© The International

The Dutch, Spijk

Exclusive to members and their guests, The Dutch features a distinctive 18-hole course designed by 2010 Ryder Cup captain Colin Montgomerie in collaboration with European Golf Design that offers outstanding golf. Complemented by an awe-inspiring clubhouse, the venue's fast-growing reputation is based on quality, exclusivity and unobtrusively attentive service. The price of a certificate for The Dutch now stands at 43,500 euros; the annual fee is 2,765 euros.© The Dutch

The Duke Club, Nistelrode

The Duke Club is unique in our country. Part business club with a membership price tag of 35,000 euros per year, part hotel. One hundred staff walk around. There is no reception at The Duke Club, no front desk. There's butler Hans. He takes you to your suite. It's big. The bed is big, the television is big, the bathtub, the shower, everything is big. The Duke Club itself is big too, 85 acres of land with an 18-hole golf course, an arboretum, hiking and biking trails and water features.

Bernardus, Cromvoirt

At Bernardus, almost everything exudes luxury and quality. It was designed by Patrick Russ and Pieter Laureys who drew for the interior. While Bernardus is prestigious, it is not exclusive. They are not a private club and wanted to exude Brabant hospitality. The annual fee at Bernardus is 3,750 euros. You have access to all the facilities. In addition to an 18-hole golf course, there is a swimming pool, driving range, fitness and tennis courts.© Bernardus
