The "Atlas for Municipalities 2023" compares the 50 largest municipalities in the Netherlands on more than 50 indicators. And what emerges now? From the brand new research report, our Mokum scores the highest on residential attractiveness. MASTERS takes a closer look at the list.
The residential attractiveness index shows how attractive a municipality is found to live in. According to researcher Marten Middeldorp, Atlas is based primarily on how much people are willing to pay per square meter for a home. This method has been used since 2003. But in addition to housing prices, it also looks at things like employment, safety and education.
The entire top 10 for this year looks as follows, according to the research firm:Â
On the green-blue attractiveness, however, our capital scores a bit lower and ranks seventeen. This sub-indicator refers to the combination of planting and water. According to the research bureau, green and blue in a neighborhood and residential environment contribute to the attractiveness of a place. Arnhem tops the list. According to this edition of Atlas, the city combines a favorable location in relation to the Veluwe with large areas of green and blue in its neighborhoods.
