Queen Máxima, royal looks under the microscope

Máxima Zorreguieta, an absolute style icon who has been showing the most beautiful looks to the Dutch and international people for over twenty years. Reason enough for GASSAN to take a look at these looks. Debora Huisman-Leeser discusses the looks of our queen and other royals together with make-up artist Bart Brom and stylist Chantal Bles.Text: Patrick Stoffer
Image: GASSANDebora: "Queen Máxima is a tremendously stylish woman with good taste and we are proud that she is our queen. I really like this outfit she wore during the 2019 Opening of the Holland Festival."

Chantal: "This dress is beautiful. It's by Claes Iversen, who along with Jan Taminiau is one of Máxima's favorite fashion designers. Claes had made this dress for the catwalk and these rings were all over the dress. The dress was customized for Máxima, because as queen, she should not be dressed too sexy. That one ring is a nice touch and her look is beautiful. "Chantal: "The look Máxima wore last year during Remembrance Day is my favorite. The Dam was completely empty because of corona and it was dead quiet when King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima walked up. With that hat and the swishing skirt, she looked like a Spanish beauty. I thought it was so beautiful and impressive. WillemmAlexander also looked very good, it was all right."

Debora: "They are a very beautiful couple." Bart: "They looked like they stepped right out of a movie. "Chantal: "I think this is a beautiful dress with the little belt and the sleeve that sticks out just a bit. It is by Natan, a Belgian fashion house from which Máxima wears a lot. I think the hat is a little big. She spoke to children during the opening and I think such a big hat creates some distance then."

Debora: "I really like this and these big earrings, the shells with pearls I also think are lovely. She has worn these earrings more often and that she wears her jewelry more often, I also like Máxima so much. This hairstyle suits her very well."

Bart: "She also often wears this lock with a bun underneath on King's Day. A good choice, as far as I'm concerned. It looks nice and stays in place, even when it's windy. I find loose hair difficult, because if there's a lot of wind, the hairdo blows open. "Chantal: "These high waist pants with wide leg and simple body is very different from what she normally wears, it's much less stately. You can see that Máxima and her stylist look closely at fashion and I think Máxima has a lot of feeling with fashion and styling."

Bart: "These photos are both taken by Erwin Olaf and yet very different. This is a classic, timeless photograph, one that can always be used. It's really an image of today, with that breeze in the hair. You just know that this photo was shot in 2020 or 2021. I like that Máxima can show both. That was not the case with Princess Beatrix; the photos of her as monarch can be from any year."
