Mariska Jagt: "reflect, reflect, change & grow"

Owner and Creative Director Mariska Jagt, together with her team, realizes project after project in the high end. The past year was a good time for her to reflect and reflect, which manifested itself in good developments on a business level. For MASTERS, Jagt writes her column about the winner's mentality, the complete interior experience and the new products & accessories that Studio Mariska Jagt will bring to the market.Text: Mariska Jagt "Where my calendar before the outbreak of the corona pandemic was full of appointments outside - from events and lunches to dinners and networking get-togethers -, I suddenly saw empty spaces in my calendar. Work, thankfully, was continuing, but I no longer had to drive from place to place and show up everywhere and nowhere. I honestly found that peace of mind very pleasant. I was able to spend the many remaining hours on the home front and on the Studio, asking myself the questions where we stand as a company, what we stand for, what my personal motivation is and where I want to go with the Studio.

This time for reflection and contemplation has included streamlining processes and creating more structure within the company. We will now focus entirely on designing interiors, exteriors, products and accessories. We used to do the realization of our projects on the side, but it will now be in the hands of my regular partner Nico van Duijn Interior & Project Services. We now only supervise the realization on an aesthetic level. When the realization is finished, we are responsible for the styling. This way we do what we are really good at and can focus our full attention on this. We will also work in design teams consisting of an architect/technical draftsman, a senior designer, a junior designer and a stylist. This makes it more interesting for each individual to work on a project and it produces a better result because there is synergy. With these changes, and of course with our creativity, perseverance and passion, I want to take the client experience and client satisfaction to the very highest level and grow into the best design studio in the Netherlands.Photo: Peter Baas | Project on the Prinsengracht in AmsterdamThe total experience of the client must be outstanding. From the design process to the end result. We have been playing in the Champions League for years and we want to win it. How I am going to realize that, you will notice in the coming year if you follow me in the media and on social media. For example, various products and accessories from our hand will come onto the market. We are also going to focus more on stimulating all the senses, so that it is no longer just about a pretty picture, but about a complete and perfect story. So many changes, but they will lead to an even higher level of our projects and for even happier faces with our clients.

In our work, of course, I also saw the necessary changes in the past year. For example, we designed stylish and comfortable workplaces in the home more often than before, and we noticed that when a household consists of several people, the need for a place of one's own increases. Lounge areas are being realized in bedrooms, for example, where residents can retreat for a while. Think of it as a literal distance to relax and recharge."
