How to: create lighting plan for the dark days

You've probably noticed: the days are getting shorter and shorter. The perfect time to start looking into outdoor lighting. If you don't know where to start, no problem. MASTERS COMPANY Maretti Lighting helps you on your way and explains in detail how to make a lighting plan to bring some light into the dark days.Text: Patrick Stoffer

Then the cable plan can be made: the main cable and branches to the light points. A 12V system is useful for this, since it does not need to be buried and can easily be expanded with additional light points.

A nice balance between basic and mood lighting

When choosing fixtures, the best start is to determine basic functional lighting. These include recessed spotlights in the canopy and along paths. A wall fixture near the front and back door gives a sense of security. Fixtures with a beautiful light fall make a wall, fence or facade a special eye-catcher. You can create extra depth in the garden by lighting shrubs and trees with ground spots. In this way you create a beautiful view from the house into the garden.

The finishing touch

Once the basics are in place comes the fun part; picking out lamps that fit your own style! Choose from basic and mood fixtures. With different fixtures from the same collection you create a nice unity and a stylish look. Dare to add one or more real eye-catchers, such as a special pendant lamp above the dining table or a stately garden pillar.
