Meet: superyacht on rails

Flying is becoming increasingly expensive. To still get from A to B quickly, the train is a good alternative. In order to still be a bit comfortable during your trip, a French designer designed a very special concept. MASTERS introduces you to the G-Train, or a super yacht on rails.

This futuristic and all-glass train is designed and actually a kind of superyacht on rails. Better known as the G-Train, it is the brainchild of French yacht designer Thierry Gaugain.

The train consists of a total of fourteen cars and is 400 meters long. And a nice added benefit for a little privacy: the special glass gives a mirror effect on the outside, but is completely transparent on the inside.

Gaugain explained that the train was designed for a single owner: "It is not a public or passenger train. This is a train that needs an owner who is not only looking for transportation between point A and point B, but also wants to enjoy the journey''.

A spa and fitness

And you will certainly enjoy the journey: the fourteen carriages of the G-Train are divided into two sections. Thus, you have the owner's section and a section for the crew and guests. Facilities on board include a VIP suite, a garden (!), a gym with spa and public areas that can be used for live entertainment or exhibitions.

The luxury train can accommodate eighteen overnight guests, but it is also possible to fold down wings of the train to create an outdoor terrace large enough to welcome 250 people for a good party next to the tracks.

Gaugain estimates that it will take more than two years to bring his vision of the G train to life, requiring about €330 million. In recent years, some of the world's leading architects and engineers have already been brought in to assist the designer in making the concept viable. So you may see G-Train flying by in a few years.Â
