HOW TO DISCOVER THE NEW WORLD: ELECTRIC

If one thing is certain it is that the future consists of more and more electric products. Some products are still only a concept, but in LXRY List 2021 we can already take a look.Online Editor: Natasha Hendriks

The Aptera

The popularity of electric driving continues to grow. In addition to the usual suspects, new car manufacturers are entering the arena. Fair is fair: charging remains a bit of a hassle, especially if you have to deal with cables. The Aptera takes a different approach: the car is equipped with solar panels and thus runs on self-generated energy. The makers are positive and report that the car generates more energy than is needed for driving. Of course, the vehicle is also equipped with an autopilot, as we should expect from a respectable car.

Extreme E

Extreme E is a new electric racing series featuring 550-hp all-terrain vehicles. One race is called "X Prix" and, according to the organizer, is somewhere between the Dakar Rally and Star Wars. The races obviously revolve around competition and fun, but Extreme E also has a larger purpose, which is to spread a message of climate change and sustainability. And that in locations where you certainly won't encounter charging stations. There is racing over polar ice and fjords in Greenland, on the ocean coast of Senegal, on glaciers in Tierra del Fuego, as well as through the Amazon and the desert of Saudi Arabia. Among the team owners you will find legendary names like Rosberg, Hamilton and Andretti. Among the drivers you will find rally legends like Carlos Sainz and Sebastian Loeb. Electric cars have improved spectacularly this century, but now they get to prove that by now they can handle even the toughest conditions.

Harley Davidson LiveWire

Harley Davidson has created an image of chrome, mufflerless exhausts and the American outlaw lifestyle in its 100-plus years of existence. It is a brand you would almost expect to be committed to Make Gasoline Great Again. But back in 2014, the Wisconsin-based manufacturer surprised with the prototype of an electric Harley. In 2019, the Harley Davidson LiveWire actually came out. Cheap is certainly not the first LiveWire. However, it is a very good and comfortable cruiser, which may go places where its noisy relatives have already been banished. Price: starting at €34,000.
