Environmentally conscious mermaid

Egyptian lifestyle brand Reform Studio designs high-end lifestyle and fashion accessories from waste plastic, among other materials, and has such responsible products handmade by local artisans. A collaboration with underwater model Sara El Laithy was established for the REBEL Collection. Plastic pollution is a major threat to marine life. For this, the company hopes to create even more awareness with this series of bags, from tote bags to belt bags. Each includes a label showing the number of plastic bags it took to arrive at the design.

Royal candle

Cire Trudon is a French candle maker founded in 1643 that was the supplier to the royal court of Louis XIV and later Napoleon. The world's oldest candle maker is still active after all these years. And still each candle is made by hand at the factory in Normandy. However, the company does move with the times and is committed to the preservation of diversity: part of the proceeds from the classic Cire candle, which smells of beeswax and honey, goes to saving the Orne Dark bees in Nature Park Perche. To the motto "Deo Regique Laborant": bees work well for God and the king.

Every little bar helps

In 1863, the best paintings for the Salon were selected by the Beaux-Arts de Paris. About three thousand canvases did not pass the inspection. Thereupon Napoleon III decided to organize in parallel a Salon des Refusès, where the rejected paintings were displayed. It was a great success, but mainly because the public descended on the scandalous nature of the paintings. They had no idea of their value: among them were works by Manet, Monet and Pissarro, who a few years later would give birth to Impressionism. You have to be able to appreciate beauty. That is why Atelier des Refusés was created: which turns the remnants of the highest quality fabrics from the best household textile brands - scraps and strips of various sizes - into decorative pillows, each one unique items in terms of material, color and size (each pillow is handmade in Milan and has a tag with identification number). To this end, it recently partnered with C&C Milano, whose fabrics - with sophisticated colors and unusual patterns - are inspired by the Mediterranean coast. The goal of C&C Milano and Atelier des Refusés is partly to minimize textile waste. With these pillows, you not only make your home more beautiful, you also help the earth a hand.
