This week, Louis Vuitton and Nike's highly anticipated sneaker collab was released to the public. Well congratulations to the lucky few who got their hands on a pair from the collection; in fact, on resell websites, the sneakers are now selling for record amounts....
The release of this collection is extra special in that it was designed by the late Virgil Abloh. In fact, the collection was one of the last projects before the designer passed away. In May, the French fashion house opened an extensive exhibition highlighting Abloh's 47 versions of the Air Force 1, outfitted with the Damier print the Louis Vuitton logo.
A total of nine different new versions of Nike AF1 x Louis Vuitton x Virgil Abloh are coming out this drop. These include a white, black and gold pair. It was thought beforehand that the shoes would be offered exclusively to VIP customers, but to everyone's surprise, the collection just appeared online on the Louis Vuitton website. Small bummer; on the date of the release, the website was unavailable for almost the entire day due to heavy traffic.
Exclusive sneaker
The shoes in the collection are priced between €2,000 and €2,500. That makes this Louis Vuitton version of the Air Force 1 eminently one of the most exclusive sneakers of the moment. But resell prices of the sneaker are even higher, with some pairs being resold for 400 percent higher than the original price. For example, even a pair from the collection is listed on the resell website StockX for €17,000... However, for true collectors, no price is too much for a shoe that is part of a special piece of sneaker history.
