Leading Ladies Lunch at MASTERS EXPO 2021

The Leading Ladies Lunch 2021, powered by Breitling: the networking lunch for truly leading ladies, took place last Monday at pop-up star restaurant M* at MASTERS EXPO. For the sixth time in a row. It is the most charming and influential annual event for female CEOs, entrepreneurs, visionaries, celebrities, influencers, top athletes and newsmakers. The entire restaurant was taken over by women, even the kitchen. The only female Michelin-starred chef in the Netherlands swung the culinary scepter during lunch: Margot Reuten*. She did this together with chefs Jarno Eggen** and Edwin Kats *+*.Text: Mical Joseph

Holland's only female celebrity chef

Carsten Klint, host and curator of the unique culinary pop-up concept Restaurant M* was the first to welcome the ladies, after which organizer of the afternoon Tamara Gijrath addressed the ladies: 'What actually is a leading lady? The leading lady, in short we are the protagonist of our own lives,' she spoke. She spoke of the second generation of Gijrath who has now entered her and her husband Yves' business: 'We are a family business. Seventy percent of companies in the Netherlands are family businesses: the cornerstone of the economy. It asks us as parents to think even more about our responsibility regarding the world we will leave behind later. This is why we have chosen to make a three-year commitment with EarthToday to spread an important, sustainable message. Consumers and companies can protect square meters of nature through EarthToday and receive a "proof of protection" in return. For every €1.20, 1 square meter of nature is protected and an additional square meter is also taken into protection by the nature conservation organization involved.'The kitchen featured the Netherlands' only female Michelin chef: Margo Reuten. Jarno Eggen** served risotto beet with caramelized pumpkin seed, apple and garden herbs as a starter. Chef Edwin Kats *+* cooked Noble Kitchen Style: red cabbage, miso, Shiso Purple, Nashi pear and Noble Style with white cabbage, Macadamia, in puff pastry with sour cream. Reuten provided dessert: passion fruit with caramel, dark chocolate, brittle dulce chocolate and a hazelnut sauce. The ladies of Pasta e Basta provided musical entertainment for the afternoon.

Mercedes had invited twenty of its best female relations to the table. Breitling not only provided their own relations with a wonderful afternoon. They also provided a unique feel and touch to the latest collection of Breitling watches. The watches were wheeled in on classic trollies.

Be there for each other

Financial expert and top entrepreneur Annemarie van Gaal talked about how to deal with each other in times of corona: "Give a woman in your life a compliment or a small personal gesture every week, this can mean so much more. Joining us for lunch were President and CEO of GASSAN Kitty Leeser, trademark lawyer Christine Noordzij, journalist May Britt Mobach, Olympic champion Inge de Bruijn, entrepreneur Susanna Klibansky, author Jessica Durlacher, director of Piet Boon Karen Meyn, among others, Corendon's Günay Uslu, documentary filmmaker Nada van Nie, photographer Paulien Huizinga, AFAS Live director Birgitte de Winter, stylist Monique des Bouvrie, artist Micky Hoogendijk, Director of hotel The Grand Amsterdam Emmy Stoel, socialite Leontine Borsato and entrepreneur Denise Boekhoorn. Choices by DL gave each lady a bracelet bearing her own initials and artist Stella Molenaar captured all the ladies in her own way. Especially now, because all beautiful and unique moments are so rare.

The Breitling chocolates caused great hilarity after dessert: who had received the gold chocolates? Kitty van der Sluis, managing director of Babor Cosmetics Netherlands, was the lucky one. This Leading Lady not only received the famous jam-packed goodie bag, like every invitee, but also went home with a won Breitling watch. After lunch all the ladies walked together onto the exhibition floor, where the goodie bags were handed out in the Mercedes booth.
