The song was recorded in August 1994 and took about 15 minutes to create. Per year, Mariah and Walter earn €530,000 in royalties from it. The Christmas hit was written by Haven Gillespie and Fred J Coots in 1933. The day after it debuted, 100,000 copies were sold. The hit has been covered several times by major artists, such as Mariah Carey and Bruce Springsteen. However, the most successful cover is by Jackson Five from 1970. The original musicians of the famous song sold the rights to music record company EMI in 1981. In 2016, the family of Fred J Coots challenged this and won. In 2029, the family will get the rights back and will hopefully be able to enjoy the success with them. As the hit made an estimated €44 million.
