'HOOKED' TO SOLAR

There's enough stuff already. That is why the prize-winning inventor Marjan van Aubel (Bergen op Zoom, 1985) only creates designs that contribute to a positive future. She focuses on the integration of solar cells in furniture. LXRY started a conversation with Marjan and came to special new insights. Because why couldn't your interior also serve as a power station? Interview: Bart-Jan Brouwer
Editorial: Annelies KeusMarjan believes that a table should have more function than just sitting at it and developed the Current Table, which turned into one large charging point with the help of solar panels. She also developed the powerplant, a greenhouse consisting of electricity-generating windows. “I'm always interested in why things are the way they are. Why is the sky blue? I wanted to link that science with design. I especially find it a challenge to transform new ideas into something tangible that you can really experience. What I make must have a function, an added value.”
