Glamorous cup of tea

Coffee in New York is part of the lifestyle there. As such, there are plenty of places to have a good cup of coffee. But if you are more of a tea lover, this city is also the place to be. Take, for example, this Afternoon Tea; for a modest €3000 you can spend a whole afternoon...

Hotel Baccarat is one of Manhattan's most prestigious addresses. The interior is opulent; just about every corner has a Baccarat crystal chandelier. As such, the name comes from the French crystal company of the same name that King Louis XV founded 250 years ago. With the very appropriate name Crystal Tea, the hotel now also brings the glitz and glamour to the table.

The Afternoon Tea is curated by celebrity chef Gabriel Kreuther. The menu includes Kaluga Huso caviar, a lobster tartelette, Kobe beef tartare, fig cookies with a hint of lavender and fresh scones with Devonshire cream. Of course, these delicacies will be accompanied by a selection of premium teas. For the small €3000, guests do get a crystal tea set....

Although the Crystal Tea is not part of the history, it does characterize the offering, according to an employee. Therefore, he said, it is only appropriate to offer an over the top tea experience.
