In recent years, the Netherlands has ranked among the top 10 happiest countries in the world. March 20 marks the International Day of Happiness. GASSAN Diamonds shows the places in Amsterdam where they cherish moments of happiness. Text: Fleur de Jong

A moment of pride: "The old Diamond Exchange is a beautiful building and now beautifully restored. A true icon for Amsterdam as a diamond city! Extra special to me because it is located across from the former GASSAN building. The golden initials of my grandfather Samuel Gassan, founder of the company, are still clearly visible from The Diamond Exchange. So a location of great value."
A moment of connection: The Royal Theater Carré is a place of which we Amsterdammers can be very proud. Opened by Oscar Carré in 1887. The wonderful theater atmosphere here is optimal. From the red plush to the beautiful chandeliers. I have seen many wonderful performances here. By far my favorite show is the World Christmas Circus This has been our annual family outing for at least 33 years! Unfortunately not in 2021. The recent stream concert was also great! They deserve our support.
A moment of celebration: "A photo of a memory from one of the most beautiful moments of my life. When we entered, a unique world opened up to us. A crazy experience at for me the most special place in Amsterdam."
A moment of harmony: "A nice place where I like to come to exercise and to unwind."
A moment of reflection: "When I am on Dam Square I feel very connected to Amsterdam; Dam Square is the beating heart of the city. You notice that in everything and it gives me a strong feeling of happiness. The palace on Dam Square is an icon and the fact that we have GASSAN Dam Square opposite it gives it an extra dimension."
A moment of joy: "When I look out over our beautiful Amsterdam from here I get the feeling that the world is at your feet! The magnificent view gives a sense of freedom and happiness, which until a year ago seemed so ordinary, but which now we all and worldwide, realize how precious and special this actually is!"

Amsterdam and its pearls of places must, of course, stand tall. GASSAN Diamonds has therefore chosen a good cause in cooperation with UNESCO: Stadsherstel Amsterdam. This institution was founded in 1956 from private initiative with the aim of buying and restoring buildings that are characteristic of Amsterdam. The institution also maintains these buildings so that they remain in good condition.
