Gravity - Sand Creatures

"My Gravity art project revolves around gravity and the combination of the various natural elements in vast landscapes. Weightless, floating in the air and frozen in time. The project focuses on nature in an unexpected way. The idea for my first Sand Creatures series came about in 2013. While my little daughter was kicking the sand on the beach, an interesting explosion of grainy sand appeared against the sunlight. In a frozen moment, I saw that the sand took a shape. Later I went back to the beach to experiment. With a shovel, I threw the sand into the air. Like clouds in which you can see imaginative shapes, after a few attempts I saw different "creatures" emerge. Meanwhile, my second Sand Creatures series has also been completed, of which this sculpture is one."

Gravity - Flower Power

"I decided to expand on my Gravity project. Both my Sand Creatures series were quite subdued in terms of color. Therefore, this time I was looking for a subject with more color, but also interesting shapes so that I could apply the same principle as to my Sand Creatures series. I quickly arrived at flowers. After all, they can be found in many colors, types and sizes in the Netherlands. Not only powerful in color, but also in story. The flowers are budded during the peak of their short flowering period, since they are grown mainly for the bulb. The tulip then wastes no more energy on the flower, allowing the bulb to grow. Budded at the peak of their power. My idea for the Flower Power series was born. The titles of the images are connected to the real names of the flower species."

Silence

"The palpable silence runs like a thread through my work. Living in a busy city, I long for images without distractions. In simplicity and simplicity I find inspiration. For me, using a minimalist style is essential to capture that distinctive stillness. This allows me to focus on what is really important, without distracting elements. Meanwhile, silence has become a signature within my style. After a series of Silence series that I made during my travels around the world, the idea for a Dutch Silence series was born. Because the Netherlands also has unique and interesting landscapes. With my passion for landscapes, I looked for places with those typical, characteristic Dutch subjects. This photograph (The Stare), is from my second Dutch Silence series and was taken in the meadows near Gouda. The cow stared at me for a long time, in silence..."
