May 11 will be etched in the memory of many Ajax fans; the club became national champions for the thirty-sixth time with a big win over sc Heerenveen. To pay tribute to the Amsterdam soccer club, MASTERS lists the five biggest (outgoing) transfers of players who ever played in Ajax's red and white.Text: Fleur de Jong

1. Frenkie de Jong 

In 2019, De Jong went from Ajax to FC Barcelona as the most expensive Dutch player ever sold for a transfer fee of €86 million. He made a million-dollar transfer to Barcelona after experiencing his big break under Ten Hag in the 2018/2019 season, reaching the semi-finals of the Champions League with Ajax. Frenkie grew up in Arkel, a southern Dutch village. Currently, the player is ranked 26 of most valuable players in the world. A fun fact: De Jong was once bought by Ajax for €1 from Willem ll....

2. Matthijs de Ligt

Matthijs de Ligt signed a contract with Juventus in 2019, the player's transfer fee was €85.5 million. His official debut with the club followed on Aug. 31 against Napoli, which Juventus won 4-3. Enjoy some more of his top 10 goals in red and white with this video. 

3. Davinson Sánchez 

Davinson Sánchez Mina is a Colombian footballer who usually plays as a center defender. In 2017, he traded Ajax for club Tottenham Hotspur for a transfer fee of €42 million. Sánchez transferred to Ajax for €5 million from top club Atlético Nacional, with whom he won the South American Champions League. In one year, the footballer became about 9 times more expensive; in fact, he initially signed a contract for five seasons at Ajax, however, after one year the defender decided to leave the Amsterdam club. 4. Hakim Ziyech

Ziyech signed with Chelsea in February 2020, who acquired him from the Amsterdam club for €40 million. Ziyech won the final of the UEFA Champions League with Chelsea on May 29, 2021 by beating Manchester City beating Manchester City. The midfielder began his career with Reaal Dronten, then moved on to ASV Dronten and made his debut with sc Heerenveen in 2012.

5. Donny van de Beek 

Van de Beek's debut as a Manchester United player followed on Sept. 19, 2020; this year he was bought by the club from Ajax for €39 million. The midfielder made his debut as a substitute in the home game against Crystal Palace; he scored immediately, but lost the game 1-3.
