DESIGNING THE FUTURE: INTERIOR

Now that we are indoors more often, we pay just a little more attention to interior design. In LXRY List 2021 you will come across a few unique interior pieces that you will definitely want to have in your home.Online Editor: Natasha Hendriks

Slump Furniture

Working closely with experienced craftsmen, Paul Cocksedge managed to sensationally stretch sheets of industrial glass. They were carefully pressed onto rocks, steel tubes and wood without breaking. The interiors produced by this method, "Slump Furniture," are a technical feat: as if water were flowing over the rock.

Red Mud Project

When bauxite ore is processed into aluminum, tons of red mud is left behind every year. With this waste, Studio ThusThat designs interior tableware, vases and lamps that playfully reference factories, chimneys and mines. The contrast between the fragile and sophisticated ceramics from their "Red Mud Project" and the gigantic scale of the metal industry is stark. Studio ThusThat uses that contrast to question our perception of industrial waste.

Voice system

The six ash legs of the "Stem" system , a design by Thomas Heatherwick, vary in height and diameter, but all end in a plant bowl. They can be clamped onto any work surface. The user fixes them, building a workspace tailored to his or her needs. A lush green desk that helps home workers relax.
