Chess is a mind sport with endless possibilities. It keeps the brain sharp and prepares you for life in a playful way. Therefore, chess is a tool that can be used to teach certain skills. They are among the best chess players in the Netherlands.Online Editor: Mical JosephSchess promotes concentration, stimulates you to think first and then act, and creates self-confidence. In addition, through chess you learn to make decisions based on clear, devised scenarios. Thus, you learn that sometimes you have to sacrifice something in order to gain an advantage later or to win the game.

The goal in chess is simple: conquer the king (checkmate). It's all about the journey to that goal. What is always your best move and what can the opponent do? Everything seems complicated at first, but you soon get the hang of how the pieces work together. The fun part is the enormous variety. Every game plays out differently because there are millions of ways a game can develop.

Chess meets business

Learning and playing chess could also be enormously valuable for businesses. As in chess, in business it is very important to think ahead and anticipate. What does my competitor want, what does my customer or employer want? What will be important in a time to grow further?

The best chess players of the low countries

The ChessQueens Foundation was founded in 2014 by the best chess players in the Netherlands. With only 1 woman in 20 players, the Netherlands lags behind other countries in the number of ladies and girls playing chess. ChessQueens wants to narrow this gap and offer girls and women the chance to benefit from the opportunities the game of chess has to offer. They organize tournaments, trainings, are active on Twitch and try to put women's chess on the map outside the chess world.
